Turnin' more wrenches... Lots of scheduled maintenance goes into making these things fly and even more when things break. It must be a bummer to put so much work into these things yet never get to fly them. If you're joining the army to be a maintaner, pick the Chinook. Unless you want to be a FOBbit.
It's sad to see this stuff happening all the time here. We hear about peace talks and cease fires and then everything erupts into chaos at the drop of a hat. It's tough to make peace with people who don't want peace, but killing children?? It's tough to wrap your head around. I come here for a cup of coffee and read about kids getting blown up as they try to make a better life for themselves and the generations that will come after them. I wish there was more hope for a better future, but it's tough to be optimistic.
I've always found it quite funny how the army seems to be so concerned about our health and fitness, yet there's never any shortage of junk food and vices. In AIT they would freak out about us eating junk food, but there were rows of vending machines in the break area full of crap! They certainly don't serve a plethora of healthy food, but if you're not in tip-top shape, the hammer is coming down! Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating for these things to be taken away. We're all adults and can make our own decisions, I'm simply pointing out something that I've always found a bit ridiculous.
