This was a tough one to pick today. There's only so much you can take pictures of along the same route and I snapped almost 150 today! Should I post pictures of the sand, or the other sand? Flat sand in the valley, or mountain sand? Thankfully the lighting conditions change a bit here and there and there's even water in some places!! It was still incredibly hot today, but the higher altitude is cooler and the fans help too!
We followed a Blackhawk around all day today. It wasn't too bad aside from our gunship support making us late. No surprise there. 😏 Also, it was HOT! I mean, metal parts on the helicopter were too hot to touch, even with gloves on. I'm looking forward to September when apparently it's going to cool down a bit. Until then I'll just stay inside and soak up the A/C. HA! Right.
Let's be honest: Apaches are freakin' cool. Apache pilots, on the other hand, are not. They think they are, but we all know the truth! In each flight school class, there's always that one dude from Texas that ONLY wants to fly Apaches. And we all know he's the ONLY one that wants to fly Apaches! There's one simple trick to ensuring you get to fly the best gunship in the world: land at the very bottom of the OML! Sometimes normal people get stuck with Apaches because there's just nothing left to choose. After #1, 2, and 3 pick Chinooks and #4-10 pick Blackhawks, the only thing left is Apaches. 🤷🏻♂️ It's a bummer, but sometimes that's just the way the cookie crumbles. Thankfully Apaches don't need good pilots because they really don't do much other than fly around in circles. That is, if they even get off the ground in the first place. 🤙🏻🙂
